The Southerner

In this country drama, Sam Tucker (Zachary Scott) is a Texan cotton picker who strives to run his farm and create a better life for his family, including two kids and the cranky Granny Tucker (Beulah Bondi). Aided by his beautiful wife, Nona (Betty Field), Tucker begins to work a neglected plot of land. Still, numerous difficulties arise, including severe weather and disputes with jealous neighbors, making it difficult for the Tuckers to get ahead.
