Politics and Movies: Wrapping It Up

It’s almost over, folks—the political ads, that is. With the elections coming soon, expect every commercial break to be packed with campaign promises and mudslinging. Hang in there—relief is in sight after November 5

Also, don’t forget to vote! Polls are open until 8 PM on Tuesday, with early voting still taking place at certain locations.

If you need an escape from politics, ABC, NBC, and FOX are rotating some family-friendly movies over the weekends, perfect for cozy autumn evenings at home.

  • COCO is on Sunday at 8 PM on ABC. A youngster takes an extraordinary journey through the Land of the Dead to unlock the real story behind his family’s history. (It’s really good if you have children or love animations!)
  • The Book of Eli (2010) airs on the365 channel 13.5 for West Michigan viewers, this Saturday November 2 at 8 PM. This popular movie is about a post-apocalyptic action-thriller where a lone wanderer, Eli (Denzel Washington), travels across a desolate America protecting a sacred book that holds the key to humanity’s survival and renewal. In The Book of Eli, the post-apocalyptic scenario was caused by a devastating nuclear war that left the world barren and society in ruins. This catastrophic event led to widespread destruction, the collapse of government structures, and the loss of most literature and knowledge, setting the stage for the desolate environment Eli navigates. The war also created a struggle for power among survivors, who sought to control remaining resources and influential items, such as the sacred book Eli protects.

So, whether you’re into sports, reality TV, crime dramas, or simply waiting for the political madness to end, there’s something for everyone in the lineup this week.
