Which antenna should you use?

Perhaps the most asked question of all time when cutting the cord is, “Which antenna should I use?” A quick search online or on YouTube can often leave one with more questions than answers. Some antennas claim to pull in stations from 150 miles away, while others insanely claim to have a 250-mile range. With certainty, I can tell you those claims are absolute nonsense, especially in West Michigan, where trees by the groves blanket the entire horizon from the broadcasting tower to your home.

I have a lot to say about antenna choice and will undoubtedly be posting more information about it soon when I have more time. In the meantime, know that what works well in one place won’t work the same in another area. Obstacles, interference from your home and nearby cell towers, how it’s connected, and finding the precise sweet spot roof placement are just a few factors to consider before choosing an antenna. Yes, just 1 or 2 feet over can change things drastically, and so on.

There’s so much more than just an antenna to choose from besides the antenna itself. In addition, there are a hundred different ways to hook up an antenna. Some methods work well, while other combinations will not work at all, even with the best antenna on the market.

Until I can write more about some of those essential deciding factors, please feel free to contact me if you are interested in professional service and live in my service area of West Michigan. I can take all your guesswork out and do it right the first time. Having a professional antenna installed can save you time, frustration, and money. It does indeed take much more than slapping an antenna up and instantly getting tons of free channels. Doing it yourself often leaves you desiring more, or you might not even know what you’re missing.

Contact me if you are in the West Michigan area and would like help, and thanks for visiting TransitionTV.
